Test Optinal Colleges
There really is no uniform policy about this that can be applied across the board. As with many things in college admissions, it varies by school, score and scholarship requirements. Often, test optional schools still require test scores when awarding merit-based scholarships. Thus, taking either the SAT or ACT would be important. For admission purposes only, if you have assured admission based on the class rank requirements, there would be no need to test other than trying to qualify for merit scholarship awards.
ACT & SAT
General Information
ACT and SAT scores are used for college admissions decisions and awarding merit-based scholarships. Most colleges do not prefer one test over the other.
It is recommended that students take the ACT/ SAT in December of their Junior year.

ACT/SAT TEST FEE WAIVERS
Students that participate in the free or reduced lunch plan are eligible for a Saturday test fee waiver. Pick up the waiver in the Counseling Ofifice or the Library's College & Career Center.

TESTING DAYS & SCORES
Free SAT for Juniors

With school day testing, you'll receive your SAT scores 21-28 days after your test date, and colleges will get your scores within 10 days after that.
Juniors can access their score report in their College Board account around April 27, 2025.
Paper copies will not be mailed home. The fastest way to get access to your SAT results is online through your College Board account. If you don't have a College Board account, learn how to create one here.
To view your SAT scores, sign into your account on the College Board homepage Next, click on "My SAT" to get to your SAT scores.
