QUALIFYING CRITERIA
1. Student must be a senior scheduled to graduate at the Spring 2025 graduation ceremony.
2. Student has no conduct grades of “I” or “U.”
3. Student has no disciplinary infraction above a Level I during his/her high school career.
4. Student has no outstanding Excessive Absences.
5. Student is viewed by faculty as representing the standards and ethics consistent with those of the school and the community.
GUIDELINES FOR STUDENT SPEECH
1. The speech must be the student’s original work.
2. The speech must not exceed 5 minutes.
3. While the school affords the student expression of personal opinions and societal or generational viewpoints, the content of the speech should not criticize JVHS, CFISD, its policies, programs, or employees.
AUDITIONS
1. Any student who meets the criteria previously mentioned may submit the text of the speech and the audition video to the Class of 2025 Schoology course
2. The video must meet the criteria and guidelines for the student speaker.
3. The video must be submitted in MP4 format.
4. Deadline for submitting a speech is 3:00 pm on April 12.
5. All videos will be reviewed by a select panel of school leaders and teachers to determine audition finalists.
6. The in-person audition will take place on campus on Monday, April 19 at school. There will be a Signup Genius for students who make it to that point
6. The audition committee’s decision is final.
